Liquid Audio Settles Patent Litigation Suit With Intouch Group


Liquid Audio, Inc., announced today that it has reached a settlement with Intouch Group in a patent litigation suit filed against the company in March 2000. The suit was originally filed in Federal Court in the Northern District of California (Case No. C-00-1156 DLJ) against Amazon.com, DiscoverMusic, Entertaindom, Liquid Audio, Inc., Listen.com and Muze. Terms of the settlement with Intouch remain confidential. The fate of a Dublin studio used by U2 that was set for demolition was to be reconsidered Tuesday (January 29), thanks in part to an online petition signed by more than 2,000 fans of the Irish rock group, Reuters reports. The Dublin Docklands Development Authority was to discuss the fate of the Hanover Quay studio, at which U2 recorded its latest album, All That You Can’t Leave Behind. Satellite radio broadcaster XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. said Monday it hit the high end of the subscriber benchmark set by Wall Street, suggesting the new service has sparked consumer interest. XM Chief Executive Hugh Panero told the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas the company had 28,000 subscribers at Dec. 31, and had increased to 30,000 since then.
