Grohl Drums Up Support for Nine Inch Nails

Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl has logged some time behind the drum kit with Nine Inch Nails, which is recording its first studio album since 1999’s “The Fragile.” Eagle-eyed fans spotted Grohl on Nine Inch Nails’ in-studio Web cam last week, sitting behind a mixing console. His contributions are expected to appear on the Trent Reznor-led act’s long-awaited new album, “Bleed Through,” due later this year via Interscope. His presence was also tipped off by members of rock act the Exies, who are recording their next album at the same studio, Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Calif. “Last week,… Read more »

Nine Inch Nails Prepare to 'Bleed'

After keeping a low profile since the 1999 release of “The Fragile,” Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor has finally begun revealing details about his next album. “Bleed Through” is due later this year via Interscope and will find Reznor “touring extensively” in support of it, according to NIN’s official Web site (http://www.nin.com). “One of the ‘rules’ of this record has been to orchestrate using only monophonic voices. No chords. Anywhere,” Reznor says. “Most of the synthesis has been done with a rather elaborate (and ever-growing) modular rig and recorded live.” The set will feature a combination of live and… Read more »

Nine Inch Nails, All That Could Have Been – Review

While for most musicians live albums are little more than concert souvenirs or holiday-season cash-ins, that’s not true of Nine Inch Nails. Trent Reznor has always seen his music as an endless work in progress. Releasing songs, EPs and albums in various versions, he has managed to turn his obsessive refusal to stop tinkering into a compelling aesthetic. What drives him is his inability after the “completion” of any project to see it in any terms other than how far it fell short of his expectations. So, And All That Could Have Been, NIN’s first live album, announces itself in… Read more »

Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor To Produce Limp Bizkit?

Nine Inch Nails mastermind Trent Reznor may be considering producing some songs for the next album by Limp Bizkit. According to an interview in the German magazine Visions, Bizkit’s Fred Durst contacted Trent Reznor’s management to ask if he would be open to producing a few tracks. Neither a spokesperson for Reznor nor a spokesperson for Durst were available to confirm the report at press time. Reznor and Durst working together would be surprising, considering their high-profile war in the press a few years back. However, Reznor has in fact given Limp Bizkit permission to copy his lyrics to use… Read more »

Nine Inch Nails' Reznor Will Leave Autopilot Off For Next LP

It’s unusual for an artist to have released only three proper studio albums in the course of a career that spans over a decade. When the sonic auteur in question is Trent Reznor, mastermind behind techno-industrial pioneers Nine Inch Nails, though, fans have been accustomed to pacifying themselves with various EPs, soundtracks and remixes, while adopting the proverb “All good things come to those who wait” as a mantra. Now, more than two years’ worth of anticipation might be drawing to a close. While keeping busy with various endeavors, most recently a remix of N*E*R*D’s single “Lapdance,” soundtrack work and… Read more »

Ex-Manager Says Trent Reznor Stabbed Him In The Back 'With A Nine Inch Nail'

Nine Inch Nails’ former manager John Malm has shot back at Trent Reznor, who filed a suit against him earlier this week seeking millions of dollars. Not only does Malm refute Reznor’s claim that he and former business manager/accountant Richard Szekelyi ripped off the rocker, he insists that Reznor actually owes him over $2 million in unpaid commissions. After numerous attempts to procure the payments, the manager sued Reznor in April, weeks before the suit against Malm and Szekelyi was filed. “Trent Reznor’s complete lack of loyalty and integrity is astounding,” Malm said in a statement. “After 20 years of… Read more »
