On an appropriately cold and rainy Friday night in the Minneapolis warehouse district, the Despair Faction, AFI’s fan militia, was working itself up, chanting the intro to Black Sails in the Sunset (”Through/Our bleeding!/We/Are one!”) and throwing up martial fist pumps. This past weekend, Louder Than Life delivered plenty of surprises for fans, both exciting and unfortunate. The three-day event ended on an incredibly high note when Spiritbox teamed up with Poppy for a special live performance of the Canadian metal group’s latest single, “Soft Spine,” during the festival’s final day.
