Timbaland delivers tirade at party

People’s all-star, pre-Grammy concert with Timbaland ended with a resounding crash when the superproducer and rapper delivered a foul-mouthed tirade against the magazine because some of his friends were apparently left outside the venue. With a blinged-out cross dangling from his neck, a sweaty Timbaland addressed the crowd at the Avalon Club just after finishing a high energy set with longtime muse Missy Elliott, capping a night of performances from acts such as Chris Cornell, Grammy-nominated band Paramore and One Republic in front of a crowd that included Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan and Ludacris. “Next time I have one of… Read more »

UK rockers Bloc Party seeking U.S. breakthrough

After winning over U.S. hipsters with its critically acclaimed 2005 debut “Silent Alarm,” U.K. rock act Bloc Party is now aiming for mainstream success. The group’s second outing, “A Weekend in the City,” comes out February 6 via Atlantic Records, preceded by two radio singles, “The Prayer” and “I Still Remember.” The group toned down the frenetic feel of its debut, which sold almost one million copies worldwide and drew comparisons to the jerky post-punk of Gang of Four and late-period Blur. “A Weekend in the City,” particularly on its back half, is dominated by slower, richly textured songs that… Read more »

'Apprentice' Viewing Party a Den of Sin

Derrik J. Lang – Bad Language was a bad apple in a bunch of good-looking apples at a Garden of Eden-themed “Apprentice” viewing party Thursday night, ably hosted by that music network that’s not MTV. Good and evil partygoers feasted on chicken skewers and crab cakes amid pillars infused with vines and forbidden fruit. An array of rejects from the past two seasons fought for attention among Fuse video jockeys, Michael Imperioli, a contortionist and a snake lady. Although Audrey “I wanted to scar my face because I was so beautiful!” Evans giggled with a gaggle of attendees, Stacie “I’m… Read more »

Three Days Grace: The Troubles With Finding A Good Pit Party

ChartAttack: Do you get teased mercilessly for being on our Sexiest Musicians cover [Oct. 2004]? Adam Gontier: Yeah, my band members are the worst for teasing me about the whole “sexy” thing. Most of my friends and family members laugh about it, but really, I know they’re all jealous. Why did it take so long for America to tweak to “I Hate Everything About You?” Don’t they hate everything? I think, for us, it was a good thing that “I Hate” took so long to catch on in America. These days, in this industry, it’s mainly about a label releasing… Read more »

Prince Partying Like It's 2004

Prince is taking that little red Corvette out of the garage again. On the heels of his blistering Grammy “Purple Rain” performance, the ’80s funk legend has announced he will hit the road with the New Power Generation for his first major arena tour in six years in support of his new CD, Musicology. To help hype the tour, Prince says the upcoming gigs may be the last time fans get to see him jam out some of the best-known hits live. That presumably means that tunes like “Little Red Corvette,” “1999” “Purple Rain,” When Doves Cry” and “Let’s Go… Read more »
