Today’s Inbox Jukebox Presents is here to tell you: Take a step back, breathe, and be true to yourself. Little Hurt’s new song “It’s Ok Not To Be Ok” is a mantra to sing when you’re feeling low—set to upbeat alt-pop that’ll pull you in the moment you hit play.
“I wrote my new single ‘It’s Ok Not To Be Ok’ as a reminder to take it easy on myself and I want my fans to remember to do the same,” Little Hurt AKA singer-songwriter Colin Dieden says. The lyrics are raw and beautiful in their honesty, as Dieden admits his struggles and accepts them, while he urges you to do the same with what you’re going through. “We’re not always going to be great and I’ve learned to accept that instead of always being at war with myself.”
For this release, Little Hurt has teamed up with Hope For The Day, which “achieves proactive suicide prevention through outreach and mental health education”. The song soundtracks their cause, opening up a conversation that tells you whatever you’re feeling is valid and there is always someone out there who’ll understand.

Everyday doesn’t have to be perfect, you don’t always have to put on a brave face, and “It’s Ok Not To Be Ok” highlights that in a heartfelt way. The synth-fueled alt-pop has an irresistible bounce to it which at first seems to be at odds with the lyrics … until the chorus hits you deep in your soul with the realization that this song is about celebrating who you are and what you feel. Simply put: It’s ok not to be ok. And you’ll find yourself screaming the words out as they fill you up with a comforting kind of power.
Little Hurt’s new music is all about creating the most honest songs possible and Dieden credits his fans for inspiring him to keep pushing forward. This is only Little Hurt’s second song but one play of “It’s Ok Not To Be Ok” and you’ll be 100% down for the journey he’s taking us on. “My fans have been a source of inspiration for me, and it’s been amazing for me to see their reactions to this new solo music of mine,” he says. “It pushes me every day to create something new and honest and allow people a glimpse inside.”
