Fresh Pressed [new music friday] – 215

What better way to kick off a weekend than with new music? Fridays are always chock full of the latest songs and albums ready to be the soundtrack to everyone’s antics, and here you’ll find some of the week’s standout releases. Whether you’re ready to spin an anticipated song from a favorite artist or just taking a look at what’s out there, there’s a whole lot of tunes to dive right into. Who knows—maybe you’ll find your next obsession.

Bring Me the Horizon
“DiE4u”

After a couple EPs of experimental, polarizing rock from UK outfit Bring Me the Horizon, the band goes back to the pop sensibilities that made 2019’s Amo irresistible. They deliver their poppiest offering yet on the head-bopper “DiE4u”, an electronic-rock number that presents the best BMTH has to show.

Lil Nas X
Montero

Since bursting into the mainstream with the country-rap-pop “Old Town Road”, eccentric singer/songwriter Lil Nas X has evolved from meme status into a full-blown icon. Montero, his debut record, is a culmination of his wild past three years with one hit after another—most notably “That’s What I Want” and the introspective Elton John-assisted “One of Me”.

LILHUDDY
Teenage Heartbreak

Travis Barker’s latest experiment has arrived on LILHUDDY’s new LP and as expected it’s pretty solid pop-punk. As the title implies,Teenage Heartbreak has no problem wearing its angsty heart on its sleeve; it’s the kind of record that you wish *you* had in high school. But lyrics aside, boomer fans of the genre can find a whole lot to love in this too. Catchy as hell songwriting runs rampant and the feature from All-American Rejects’ Tyson Ritter is a treat.

Jon Bellion
“I FEEL IT (with Burna Boy)”

Jon Bellion makes his illustrious return to the game with the jazzy “I FEEL IT”, incorporating some fun horns in the chorus in a collab with Burna Boy. It hardly even sounds like Bellion, but that just goes to show that he’s ready to shake things up for whatever comes next in his new stuff.

Every Time I Die
“Planet Shit”

The frantic, high-tempo “Planet Shit” has Every Time I Die hitting on all cylinders. Brutally honest lyrics complement the brutal guitar riffs throughout, resulting in a track that provides perfect circle-pit material with a message that’s easy to resonate with.

Jonas Brothers
“Who’s In Your Head”

On paper, Jonas Brothers and Max Martin together is a match made in pop heaven. In practice, it’s as good as advertised. “Who’s In Your Head” follows the funky pop vibes that their previously-released track “Mercy” went in. There’s been nearly an album’s worth of material the guys have been involved in since their comeback LP in 2019 and they just keep getting better.

Thrice
Horizons / East

Post-hardcore legends Thrice continue to innovate on their impressive 11th full-length. Single “Scavengers” is brash and aggressive while the love-letter to Radiohead in “Robot Soft Exorcism” is a major highlight, but the full experience of Horizons / East. comes only when listening to the record front to back.

Our Last Night
“Bad Habits”

Our Last Night turns Ed Sheeran’s hit “Bad Habits” from a bedroom jam into a mosh-pit staple—bringing screams, heavy guitars, and breakdowns into the mix—all while keeping that awesome chorus intact.

Hawthorne Heights
“Ohio Is For Lovers” (feat. Siiickbrain)

Hawthorne Heights’ classic tune “Ohio Is For Lovers” made waves around Myspace as every emo’s favorite profile song; its newest remix might let it live a new life on TikTok. Artist Siiickbrain provides the vocals on this revamp while HH’s patented unclean growls are amplified with the glitchy electronic production.
