“Sail on, let your path unfold. It won’t be long…”

5 Seconds of Summer are back with an album that will have you in a whirlwind trying to categorize it into a genre. In their sophomore album, the boys are set on a clear message of uniting the millennial generation and developing their music game to convince us to rally. First single “She’s Kinda Hot”, which they released earlier this year, will draw you in with catchy story-telling in the lyrics and background chatter in the music that makes you feel like you’re just hanging out with friends. Lyrics like, “They say we’re losers but we’re all alright with that / We are the leaders of the not coming backs,” will instantly have you singing along.

Long time listeners will be excited to hear a stronger and more diverse range of vocals in Sounds Good Feels Good, as members that previously sang backup now have more central roles in songs like “Jet Black Heart”. You’ll experience the strange mixture of two parts pop-punk, one part boyband in the way the band mixes electronics and rock instrumentals in songs like “Catch Fire”. Whether you believe they should be called pop, pop-punk or something else entirely, 5 Seconds of Summer certainly bring a message of community for us all. Definitely have a listen to this one, because no matter what it’ll give you something to think about.

Buy it, Stream it, or Skip it?: Stream it. Sure it’s a little poppy, but you’ll find that isn’t always a bad thing.
