Hey Violet Admit “i should call my friends” On New Track

Hey Violet are back with a new label and a new track called “i should call my friends“. That new label is Hopeless Records, the legendary home of Neck Deep, DE’WAYNE, LØLØ and more. After gaining notoriety during their time on 5 Seconds Of Summer’s imprint label 5Mode, it’s now time for a new chapter. And could there be a more perfect place for such a special alt-pop collective to exist? Responsible for some of the most vibrant, cheeky and insatiable songs to hit the airwaves over the last decade, theirs is a discography for falling in love, falling out of life and everything in between. To go with their signing, there is a new song as well, and it’s a bit old statement of intent.

i should call my friends” sits on the falling out of life side of the coin for Hey Violet. A track that bristles with modern pop-punk vibrancy and pop eagerness, it’s all about getting stuck in your own rut. Most of the time, that rut is something you can climb out of easily, but it just needs that bit of effort. Sitting alone in your room, surrounded by takeout, wearing the same clothes for the fourth day in a row. It’s a reminder of how quickly you can fall into a depressive state, but also how all it takes is a phone call to let the people you love know what’s going on.

Such a song feels like a fresh slate for Hey Violet. A chance to delve into different pools of inspiration whilst still creating music that feels vital as it does fun. A year on from their last offering, the self-released EP Bloom, the band are hitting their stride in a big way once more. Whatever they have cooking is sure to be an absolute pleasure.
