For teens, summertime not only means that school’s out, but it also means there are new movies to see, concerts to attend, and CDs to buy.
The July issue of J-14 (on sale June 8) makes it easy for kids to sort through the choices with “Your Best Summer Ever,” a 12 page J-14 cover story that includes dozens of previews, exclusive interviews with the stars, tour schedules, CD release dates, movie premiere dates, and giveaways.
According to Janet Giovanelli, J-14 Editor-in-Chief, “There’s plenty of new rock, pop and r & b music this summer. ‘N Sync is the hardest ticket to come by, but worth the effort. Fans will marvel at the voyage the band takes them on with a personal account of how the group evolved. The show is presented with incredible special effects and extravagant props – so many props that they are traveling with 91 tour buses to carry everything. Parents will also enjoy the concert with its pop culture references that the kids might not get.
“Girls will be lining up July 24 to get their hands on ‘Celebrity,’ ‘N Sync’s latest release,” Giovanelli adds. “It probably won’t beat the record set with ‘No Strings Attached’ (2.4 million sold in it’s first week) because there is too much competing for kids’ dollars this summer.”
Giovanelli also predicts: “‘American Pie 2’ looks to be the teen blockbuster of the summer. But parents beware: it will undoubtedly be as raunchy, if not more so, than the original.”
J-14, the fastest growing teen magazine, debuted in January 1999 and is primarily targeted at girls 10 – 16. Published by Bauer Publishing LP (Woman’s World, First For Women), it features a blend of entertainment news and features along with beauty and fashion advice from the stars. J-14’s circulation is 500,000 and, with more than five readers per copy, reaches over 2.5 million readers.
