Billboard magazine reports that former Living Colour singer Corey Glover and his songwriting partner Michael Cirincione are suing R&B group TLC over the song “Unpretty.” The two say they had written a song called “Make Up Your Mind” for the group a year before “Unpretty” came out. They say that “Unpretty” lifts significant and uncredited portions from their song.
The two songwriters say LaFace Records told them “Make Up Your Mind” would not be used on the TLC album. They’re seeking compensation of all profits from the sale of the song, statutory damages and legal costs. Lawyers for the group could not be reached for comment.
