Pearl Jam will on Dec. 8 play its first hometown show since October 2001 with a benefit concert at Seattle’s Key Arena. Guitarist Mike McCready told local radio station KNDD today (Oct. 23) that proceeds will aid a variety of charities. He wouldn’t comment on rumors that Queens Of The Stone Age and Audioslave will also be on the bill or that another show may be added. Tickets go on sale Nov. 2 at 9 a.m. PT; members of Pearl Jam’s Ten Club fan organization can enter a lottery for specially reserved seats.
Pearl Jam, whose new Epic album “Riot Act” is due Nov. 12, will use the event as a warm-up to its next world tour, due to kick off in February in Australia. The group is expected to begin a North American trek by mid-spring. A Nov. 14-15 stint on “The Late Show With David Letterman” is also in the offing.
Audioslave, which consists of former Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and former Rage Against The Machine members Tom Morello, Brad Wilk, and Tim Commerford, has not yet made its live debut. The group’s self-titled debut is due Nov. 19 from Epic.
Queens Of The Stone Age is currently in Europe touring in support of its latest Interscope set, “Songs for the Deaf.” The album debuted last month at No. 17 on The Billboard 200 and features the single “No One Knows,” which is No. 24 on the Modern Rock Tracks chart this week.
