Madonna Concert Boosts Traffic To HBO.Com

Madonna fans rushed to ( during the week ending Aug. 26, for a sneak peek of her live concert broadcast on HBO, according to leading Internet audience measurement service Nielsen//NetRatings.

Traffic to soared 39 percent at home to 247,000 unique visitors, compared with 177,000 visitors the previous week.

The top page visited at the site featured concert outtakes and additional show information, capturing nearly 20 percent of the site’s audience.

More than seven percent’s traffic logged onto the page showcasing streaming video feeds of Madonna’s concert. Nearly 7 percent the site’s audience clicked on a slide show featuring Madonna’s photographs.

“With exclusive coverage of the Madonna tour, including the broadcast of a full-length concert and additional content on the site, HBO succeeded in cross-promoting the cable network and,” said Betty Cho, Internet analyst, NetRatings.

“Fans logging on to were treated to streaming outtakes of the concert along with an insider’s look at the costumes, music set list, and additional facts and trivia about the Material Girl.”

Nielsen//NetRatings measures and reports Internet audience behavior based on data collected from 62,000 home users and 8,000 at work users in the U.S and 155,000 international users.
