Live Avril Exclusive Tracks On iTunes Include Green Day Cover

Avril Lavigne is sending a subtle message to Metallica, Linkin Park and other groups who have pulled their music off Apple’s iTunes recently – Let Go.

While several artists have distanced themselves from the online music store because it makes tracks available individually, the Canadian singer is supporting the new service by giving iTunes an exclusive live EP.

The five-song collection, available only at iTunes beginning Tuesday (July 15), features “Sk8er Boi,” “Losing Grip,” “Nobody’s Fool,” “Unwanted” and a cover of Green Day’s “Basket Case.” Each track is 99 cents.

The material was recorded March 23 at the Dublin, Ireland, date of Lavigne’s recent Try to Shut Me Up world tour. Additional performances from the tour will be available September 29 on a full-length CD and DVD titled My World. That collection, available in stores, will also include backstage footage of Avril’s shenanigans with her band.

Fans looking for new Lavigne music are also in luck, as the song “I Don’t Give” will be featured on the “American Wedding” soundtrack, due July 22.

In other Avril news, although a script based on the lyrics to “Sk8er Boi” is being written, the singer has said she will not appear in the movie. The Matrix, who co-wrote and produced the hit, are overseeing the project.
