Incubus's New Video Not Banned By Video Channel

Contrary to reports that are surfacing, the video clip for Incubus’s “I Wish You Were Here” has not been banned by MTV. The clip is currently at MTV and has been added for heavy rotation.

A spokesperson for the band told LAUNCH that the video channel was presented with two versions of the clip. One had a scene emulating an episode from the ’60s TV show The Monkees in which the members of Incubus are chased by a pack of girls off a bridge and are forced to jump into the water below. In light of the September 11 terrorist attacks, the video channel objected to the end of the video, where the band acts as floating and sinking cadavers after they hit the water. Incubus performance clips were interspersed between the chase and the band jumping off the bridge.

The second and accepted clip has the bridge scenes swapped out in favor of more live footage and shots of Incubus hanging out at its rented Malibu beach house, where it recorded the forthcoming album Morning View. Incubus’s new effort hits stores on October 23.
