Hollywood Records Taps Eddy for VP of Sales

Daniel Savage, senior vice president of sales and marketing for Hollywood Records recently announced that Curt Eddy has been named vice president of sales for the label. Based in Burbank and reporting to Savage, Eddy will be responsible for all sales efforts on behalf of Hollywood Records, Lyric Street Records, Mammoth Records, Surfdog Records, and Skaggs Family Records.

In making the announcement, Savage commented, “I first met Curt over 10 years ago when we were both at PGD, and have since had the opportunity to work with him in the various stages of his career in distribution. He has always impressed me with his keen industry savvy, team spirit, and fervent passion for music. His refocusing and reenergizing of the sales department will be a critical element in accelerating the success of our labels.”

Added Abbey Konowitch, senior vice president, general manager of Hollywood Records, “Curt’s wealth of top level contacts as well as his experience with the most powerful music distribution company makes him a key addition to our executive team. He will be invaluable in bringing Hollywood and our family of labels the type of leverage and relationships we need to win.”

Commenting on his appointment, Eddy said, “I am very excited with the opportunity to join Hollywood Records and play a role in the development of new artists. To be part of the Hollywood family and still have a strong connection with UMVD, as a distribution partner, is the best of both worlds.”

Eddy joins Hollywood Records from Universal Music and Video Distribution, where he served as senior vice president of field sales and marketing, overseeing all sales and marketing functions for the company’s Eastern division. From 1999 to mid-2001, Eddy was senior vice president of sales and distribution for UMVD. Prior to this, he spent seven years as senior vice president of field marketing for Polygram Group Distribution. Eddy’s history with PGD dates back to 1978 when he joined the company as a marketing manager for the Southwest branch in Dallas, Texas. He had since held a number of subsequent sales positions within PGD.
