Tonos Entertainment, the global musician’s network founded by legendary music hitmakers Carole Bayer Sager, David Foster and Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, today announced the promotion of former MTV executive Justin Herz from general manager to CEO.

As CEO, Herz is responsible for the growth and development of Tonos Entertainment, which includes Tonos.com, the global online musician’s network, as well as Tonos Artist Development, which helps nurture and develop select artists from the Tonos community.

Tonos Entertainment, which is best known for helping musicians tap into the biggest names in the music industry, recently introduced its tonosPRO subscription service through Tonos.com. With a tonosPRO membership, musicians can improve their skills, submit their songs to specific music industry opportunities, and connect with a global network of musicians, songwriters and producers.

Under Justin’s leadership, Tonos brought the music industry online and established itself as the definitive online network for musicians and songwriters around the world.”

“Tonos has built a strong reputation among musicians and music industry executives,” said Justin Herz, CEO, Tonos. “For musicians, Tonos offers a wide variety of serious music industry opportunities for both amateurs and professionals. For the music industry, Tonos is a great resource because of our commitment to discovering and nurturing talent across all genres of music.”

Prior to joining Tonos in 2000 as general manager, Herz spent six years serving in a variety of positions at Viacom’s MTV Networks. Most recently, Herz was the senior vice president and general manager of MTV Networks’ Sonicnet.com, where he oversaw the company’s repositioning and branding initiatives. Herz also served as vice president of production for MTV’s online division.

Prior to MTV Networks, Herz was a founding member of Downtown Digital, an interactive design and development company funded by AT&T. In addition, Herz has experience on the performance side as the lead singer, songwriter and producer for the New York band Blowup. Herz is a graduate of Columbia University, where he received a B.A. in History.
