NOW Trending: We Really, Really Don’t Believe Who Was on Stage with twenty one pilots in NYC

The gentlemen of twenty one pilots have a reputation for throwing together a show that is more performance art than what you expect to see showing up to the average concert. From climbing scaffolding at Bonnaroo to playing their song “Trees” on plywood squares held up by the crowd, twenty one pilots are delightfully unpredictable. On night two at Hammerstein Ballroom the boys topped their own antics and served up some special guests, New York City style. Drummer Josh Dunn kept the beat to their track “We Don’t Believe What’s on T.V.”, as members of MisterWives, Walk the Moon, Matt and Kim, Halsey, and Hoodie Allen piled onto the stage giving the crowd no choice but to lose their minds.

The audience helped out with timed chanting of “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah” while Hawaiian shirt clad Tyler strummed his signature ukulele and welcomed the A-list of special guests. This turned into a dance party of talent; every one of whom has dropped an album recently that is soaring up the charts. As if the crowd wasn’t sufficiently warmed up at that point, Tyler’s wife Jenna sauntered onstage and planted a kiss that sent the kids into overdrive. twenty one pilots just gave us all the visual from our daydreams—well, at least mine: my playlist of artists all together in front of my face, singing along to each others’ tunes. The only thing predictable about this pair is that you never know what they’re going to pull, and I am perfectly alright with that.

Every time I’ve seen them is like seeing a different band. Currently out on the Blurryface Tour, the alternative hit slinging pair is repping their newest album of the same name; and while I may hear my favorite songs, there’s always a drastic twist that freaking blows my mind. The duo of Ohio best buds have done some solid studio work, but it has always been their live performances that make me fall in love with them all over again. Seeing twenty one pilots is like trying those special edition flavors of Oreo cookies: there is something familiar at the core, but they are always throwing a delicious wrench in the mix.
